The Chalet

Chalet Marmotte is a well-known building located in the center of Morzine it was previously owned by the Baud family. In previous years it was a Savoyede bar and restaurant popular with farmers who still played boules on the land to the front of the building in the summer months. The Chalet since served as a Colonie de Vacances for international students, and was finally renovated in 2011 into three independent high-end apartments each sleeping up to 8 guests (four-bed and three bathroom) designed to a high specification by local architect Hervé Marullaz.

At 130m2 the apartments are amongst the largest in this location offering luxury features including American style kitchens, underfloor heating, Egyptian cotton linen and even a wine chiller. The accommodation is offered either self-catered or catered working with carefully selected local chefs. Other services on offer including discounted airport transfers, ski pass delivery and an in-house ski-fitting service, all designed to help you make your holiday as comfortable as possible.

Chalet Marmotte has the advantage of being a stone’s throw away from bars, restaurants and clubs but being also quietly located by the river, slightly away from the hustle and bustle of a thriving ski resort. You can see a number of iconic mountains from the balconies of the apartments offering popular hiking routes in the summer. The area behind the Chalet is the Parc Dereches with an Olympic sized swimming pool, hamman, tennis courts, and the elevator to the Super Morzine bubble lift all within a few minutes walk. A stroll to the rear of building takes you under the footbridge and down the valley next to the river Dranse which is a peaceful walk in a beautiful valley.

The Resort

Morzine is a traditional alpine town situated in the heart of the Portes Du Soleil ski area in the French Alps.  Situated just an hour and a quarter transfer from Geneva airport this charming resort benefits from great snow conditions in the winter season and beautiful warm days in the summer.

With typical wooden alpine chalets, a host of bars and restaurants and a huge ski area it is easy to see why so many people fall in love with the area. Despite its growth from when tourism started in 1920 with Le Grand Hotel, Morzine has maintained its charm from days when it existed as a traditional market village.

The Super-Morzine Avoriaz link just moments away from the Chalet will take you to over 650km of pistes in and 12 linked ski resorts across France and Switzerland with one ski pass covering it all.

Morzine was also the first resort In Europe to convert ski lifts for transportation of mountain bikes in the summer season which makes it a very popular destination for downhill riders and also provides a meccas for hikers, road cyclists, climbers and pretty much anyone else who enjoys the mountains.

The town hall host several internationally acclaimed events throughout the year including the Tour-du France, Harley Days motor-cycle rally, Snowboxx and the Rock-the-Piste music festivals ensuring a great vibe in the resort all year round.
